Glyn U14A vs Royal Alexandra and Albert School U14A
On Saturday 14 May, the U14A Glyn Cricket team ventured over to Royal Alexandra and Albert School (RAAS) to play an inter-school match. Glyn won the toss and Captain Freddie 8A elected to bat first, a decision that proved to be instrumental in the outcome of the game. Glyn’s opening pair started their innings well, with Tyler 9C hitting some big shots early in the innings and Daniel 9SB supporting him by steering the ball into space for quick singles. RAAS took their first wicket in the 5th over, with an excellent delivery that deceived Tyler 9C and dismissed him for 18 runs. Freddie 9A joined Daniel 8SB at the crease and together they batted very well, with Freddie 9A hitting a couple of big fours before being dismissed for 10 runs. Imran 9C and then Salman 9C joined Daniel 9SB at the crease and scored 13 and 14 runs respectively, with some big fours from both players and a huge six from Salman 9C. AJ 9T then joined Daniel 9SB and supported him well, with some excellent running between the wickets. Daniel 9SB (pictured) batted extremely well throughout the innings and, at the start of the final over, needed 7 runs to achieve his 50. With that in mind, he smashed two fours and continued to bat for the entire innings, finishing on 51 not out; an outstanding achievement. Glyn’s final total was 158-4, from 20 overs.
The responsibility of opening the bowling was given to Shubham 9D and he did not disappoint, taking the first wicket in the 3rd over. Imran 9C followed this up in the 4th over with another wicket, after some excellent deliveries. The Glyn bowling attack continued to bowl very well, with Samir taking 3 wickets in quick succession for only 7 runs; an excellent effort. Imran 9C took another wicket a few overs later, as did Salman 9C. Shubham 9D finished the game off in the final over, taking another two wickets, with his final bowling figures of 4-11; a great effort.
Congratulations to all the players for a fantastic effort and thanks to all the families for their support on the day. Mr MacLeod
