Surrey Cup Match - Glyn U14A vs Kingston Grammar U14A
On Thursday 12 May, the U14A Glyn Cricket team hosted Kingston Grammar School at Priest Hill Playing Fields in the first round of the Surrey Cup. Glyn lost the toss and Kingston Grammar School elected to bat first. Glyn bowled very well throughout the innings and restricted Kingston’s ability to score runs, with Imran 9C taking 2 wickets from 3 overs. Salman 9C, Samir 9C and Shubham 9D all took a wicket each, resulting in Kingston’s final score of 116-5, from 20 overs.
Glyn’s opening pair started their innings well, with Sonny 9B and Daniel 9SB fending off some very good bowling from Kingston’s openers. Kingston struck in the 5th and 8th overs, however, resulting in Glyn being 37-2, from 8 overs. Freddie 9A took to the crease and straight away looked to start chasing Kingston’s total. He played some fantastic shots, including 9 fours and 2 huge sixes. Glyn won the game in the 17th over, scoring 118-4.
Congratulations to the whole team on this win. Particular congratulations to Freddie 9A for his 60 not out. Thanks to all the families for your support and good luck in the 2nd Round against Epsom College. Mr MacLeod
