How We Celebrate Your Success!
When you join Glyn in Year 7, one of the first things you’ll notice is how often students are praised for the brilliant things they do every day. Achievement Points are our way of celebrating all the positive choices you make—both in and out of lessons. They’re easy to earn, fun to collect, and they all add up to help your House in the annual House competition
How I Can Earn Achievement Points?
1. Positive contributions to learning
- Working hard in lessons
- Showing perseverance, motivation, or resilience
- Producing high-quality classwork or homework
- Going “above and beyond” in your learning
2. Positive behaviour in school
- Showing kindness, respect, and courtesy
- Being helpful or considerate to others
- Demonstrating integrity—making the right choices even when no one is watching
- Being prepared and ready to learn (bringing equipment, being on time)
3. Contributing positively to school life
- Showing pride in the school and representing it well
- Getting involved in House activities or helping the wider school community
- Demonstrating Glyn’s core values in your everyday actions
Teachers award these points when they spot us doing something positive. They’re a way of recognising the choices we make every day to be our best. Achievement Points make me feel proud of what I’ve done - and winning them helps my House too, which always adds a bit of fun and friendly competition.
The more achievements Points you collect the better. There are certificates for key milestones and queue jumps so you wont have to queue in the canteen.

You are encouraged to get as many achievement points as a Tutor group as possible in order to gain a group reward each Half Term.
In Half Term 6, students in the Tutor group with the most achievement points will be drawn at random to receive one of the following prizes:

Behaviour Points & Detentions – What Happens If Things Don’t Go Quite Right?
At Glyn, everyone wants you to thrive, feel safe, and enjoy learning. Sometimes, though, we all make mistakes. If something goes a bit wrong, teachers use behaviour points or detentions to help us get back on track.
Behaviour Points
A behaviour point simply means:
“Something wasn't quite right—let’s try that again next time.”
Behaviour points can be given for thing like being off-task, forgetting equipment, or not following an instruction straight away. It’s not something to worry about (unless you start to get too many), and it’s always there to help us improve.
Detentions
If something needs a bit of extra sorting, you might get a short detention.
These mostly happen when:
- Homework wasn’t completed
- You were off-task a few too many times
- Instructions needed a few too many repeats
Detentions at Glyn aren’t scary—they’re a chance to reset, reflect, and then get back to being awesome. (And… you get a fresh start every day!)
A Year 7 Student’s Final Word…
Achievement Points? Fun.
Behaviour points? Fixable.
Detentions? Not the end of the world.
At Glyn, you’re supported every step of the way. Teachers want to catch you doing things RIGHT—and they do, all the time!
So get ready to learn, laugh, make new friends, earn stacks of points, and discover what being a Glyn student is all about.
You’ve got this - and we can’t wait to see what you achieve!
