Next Steps

At Glyn School it is our aim is to ensure that every student receives high-quality career guidance education to assist them to develop employability skills and knowledge of the Next Steps after GCSE and A Levels.

In January 2018 the Department for Education issued new Statutory Careers Guidance which outlined the eight Gatsby Benchmarks. The Benchmarks are designed to ensure that a 'gold standard' of Career Education is provided to all students to equip them for their pathways after school. The Gatsby Benchmarks have been updated for September 2025.

The Benchmarks are as follows:

  1.    A stable career programme
  2.    Learning from career and labour market information
  3.    Addressing the needs of each student
  4.    Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5.    Encounters with employers and employees
  6.    Experience of workplaces
  7.    Encounters with further and higher education
  8.    Personal Guidance

At Glyn School we are working hard to ensure that these standards are met.
