How Parents and Carers Can Support Us

1. Establish Strong Routines at Home

  • Ensure regular bedtimes and healthy sleep habits.

  • Create a quiet, consistent space for homework.

  • Encourage good organisation - packing bags the night before and checking timetables.

2. Promote Independence

  • Support your child in managing their own equipment, homework and deadlines.

  • Allow them to try solving small issues before stepping in - this builds confidence and resilience.

3. Maintain Open Communication

  • Keep the school informed about any changes or concerns.

  • Read all school communications (emails, newsletters, apps) so you’re up to date.

  • Encourage your child to speak to their form tutor, Head of Year or subject teacher if they need help.

4. Encourage a Positive Attitude to Learning

  • Ask about their school day and take an interest in what they’re learning.

  • Praise effort and progress, not just results.

  • Reinforce the importance of good behaviour, kindness and respect.

5. Support Attendance and Punctuality

  • Aim for excellent attendance and ensure your child arrives on time.

  • Avoid taking holidays or appointments during the school day where possible.

6. Help Them Get Involved

  • Join clubs, teams or activities to build friendships and confidence.

  • Encourage participation in school events and enrichment opportunities.

7. Promote Healthy Digital Habits

  • Set boundaries around screen time and social media use.

  • Monitor online activity and talk openly about staying safe online.

  • Ensure phones remain off and away during learning hours (if that aligns with your school policy).

8. Work With Us as Partners

  • Support school policies, rewards and sanctions.

  • Attend parent evenings, information sessions and workshops.

  • Ask questions if unsure - we are here to support you and your child.
