Year 9 (U14) Football Update
A Team:
This season has been a very up and down season for the A team, with an excellent start seeing the students win 5 of their first 8 games, only losing to Wilson’s 3-2 (after losing 12-1 in the corresponding game last season!) and Whitgift 3-2 (which is no embarrassment at all considering their status). They were very unfortunate to fall out of the Surrey Cup on Penalties away at Turing House after a phenomenal 10 minute hat-trick from Jimmy (9T).
The student’s availability dropped over the Winter months due to various reasons and our results suffered, where we lost 4 games in a row! But since that blip the team are now on a 4 game winning streak and hoping to finish the season strongly, with 4 players fighting for the Golden Boot: Max (9B) on 7 goals, Jimmy (9T) and Will (9O) both on 6 goals and Jude (9C) on 5 goals!
B Team:
It has been a strong season both result wise, but possibly more importantly the number of students that have represented the school football team, the B team have used a total of 32 players over the season, adding the A team to that, that means that 48 players have played for either the Year 9 A or B team this season, an excellent display of participation and desire to represent the school.
Results wise the B team have won 7 of their 11 games this season, only losing in the National Cup to Howard of Effingham on penalties, and Whitgift (again, a respectable team to lose to). Chasing the Golden boot for the B team is currently Ryan (9M) on 6 goals, Aleks (9A) on 5 goals, and Andrew (9D) on 4 goals (although Andrew did join late and has those 4 in just the last 5 games!)
