NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE CAMP
NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE CAMP
As part of my time in Glyn Freemen's CCF, I completed a week at the National Air and Space Camp (NASC) based at sites in and around RAF Syerston, where I completed my Blue Wings training and went gliding, as well as finding out about Aero Medical at Cranwell, learning how engines work and disassembling them, looking at flight simulators and engineering at ASI in Newark, as well as attending the Industry Day, where I spoke to people in many different roles such as the RAF police, BAE Systems, current students doing degree apprenticeships, Typhoon pilots and Red Arrows engineers. Most importantly, of course, was the private airshow, including F-15s, a Typhoon, Apache, Chinook, Spitfire and Lancaster. It was an incredible week, all thanks to the CCF!
