Year 13 A Level Results - Celebrating Our High-Achievers

There were celebrations at our school today when students collected their A Level results and discovered many of them achieved top A* and A grades.

The outstanding results saw 20 per cent of our A Level students receive A* to A grades and 46 per cent A* to B, while 70 per cent achieved A* to C, and 33 per cent of BTEC students obtained a Distinction or Distinction*.

Their achievements were all the more impressive considering these were the first public examinations the group had been able to sit, due to restrictions in place during the pandemic.

Among our high-fliers were Head Girl Lottie Benton, who attained three As, Head Boy Selaka Adikari Mudiyanselage, who was awarded A*AA, and Sam Melrose with A*A*A*.

“It feels good to have the results, and a weight off my chest,” said Lottie, who plans to take a gap year before studying English Literature and Philosophy at Leeds University. 

“But it’s also weird, as it’s the end of school. I really loved it at Glyn, and it has definitely been the right place for me. It’s a really good school, so it’s weird to be leaving. I also liked being Head Girl, as it really built my confidence.”

“I was very relieved,” agreed Selaka, who has a place to study Mechanical Engineering at Bath University. “Glyn has been very good, very supportive and a lot of fun overall, and it’s been a very good time for me. Being Head Boy has been good practice for the future and I’m very excited to go to Bath.”

Sam, who will read History at Nottingham University, added: “I was anxious for many weeks about the results, so I was immensely shocked to do so much better than I’d expected.

“We are incredibly proud of all of our Year 13 students today and the results they have achieved,” said Jo Garrod, Head of School. 

“This is the last cohort who did not sit any GCSE exams, and therefore were sitting their first set of public examinations. 

“These outcomes reflect the hard work, determination and resilience demonstrated by our students. The results are also a reflection of our dedicated educators who continuously inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential.”

“We congratulate five of our students on all A*s and 20 of our students receiving all A* and A grades, she added. 

“We congratulate the Class of 2023 and wish them well as they move to their next step along their journey.”
