World Book Day with Matt Dickinson
As part of our World Book Day celebrations we were very excited to welcome back Matt Dickinson, award winning author, filmmaker and writer, to Glyn School on Wednesday 6 March. He has lived a life of adventure, working extensively for National Geographic TV, Discovery Channel and the BBC. During his action packed career he has filmed on Everest’s summit, in Antarctica, Greenland, Alaska, the Sahara Desert and on top of the highest live volcano in the world. Matt has worked with some of the great characters from the world of adventure, including Bear Grylls and Brian Blessed.
Students in years 7, 8 and 9 attended sessions in the Procter Hall where they listened enthralled to Matt talk about his adventures and his books. It was brilliant to hear Matt share about the importance of reading and the effect it has on your life. It really was a fantastic morning and the students had a great time. We will be including more reviews of his visit in Reading News next week.
Our superstar reader this week is Muhammad K in 7O. He has read over 5,455,237 words since September - more than any other student in Years 7 to 9. This is an absolutely fantastic achievement. In recognition of this Muhammad was presented with a signed copy of The Everest Files by Matt Dickinson.
