COMBINED CADET FORCE: EXERCISE FIRST KNIGHT
On Friday 11 October to Sunday 13 October we had the annual Exercise First Knight for the new recruits to pick up their uniform and learn some more new Military skills. The Exercise helps teach common knowledge about the CCF, sleeping overnight outside and gives them a sense of community as some of the cadets have told me. The Year 9 recruits have also said some of their favourite parts were the marching and practising drill as well as the night stalk they took part in. Overall the lessons were informative to the cadets teaching them things such as the Ranks of the CCF, the History of the CCF, Judging Distances, Movement including Leopard Crawl and many other military based skills.
At the same time on the 12 October and 13 October we had the first Skill At Arms weekend of the year where cadets now in their second year get hands-on experience training with the L98a2 Cadet GP rifles to pass their weapons handling test at the end of the weekend. They learned multiple procedures for the weapons handling test such as: stripping, cleaning and assembly of the rifle, the functions test, how to load and unload and the many stoppage drills. This all helped them revise for their practical test at the end of the weekend which all the cadets that took part passed successfully!
