YEAR 8 FOOTBALL SEASON
A Team:
This year saw an up and down season for the Year 8 A Team footballers, with 8 Wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats. The boys started off the season with a nightmare performance and result against Wilsons school, losing 11-2 at home! The progression of the boys throughout the season was most evident when we then drew Wilsons school away in the Surrey Cup, with the 11-2 embarrassment still fresh in the memory, the boys put in a battling performance to narrowly lose 3-1 with the 3rd coming in the last minute. The Year 8s managed to reach the 5th round of the national cup, an amazing achievement, beating St Joseph's School 7-1, Charles Darwin School 6-1 and an incredible performance to beat Kingston Academy 3-2 away. We then came up against a very strong Salesians Chertsey side away and unfortunately came away on the wrong side of a 4-2 loss.

B Team
The B team had a difficult season, coming up against some very strong teams, winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 6. The A team's imperfect availability for Saturdays resulting in the A team regularly needing 2-3 B team players. The highlight for the B team came in their first round of the National Cup, despite losing 3-2 to Shenfield, the boys went 2-0 up against the reigning national champions before agonisingly conceding a last-minute goal to lose. The performance was exceptional and Mr Poppleton was very proud of them.

C Team
The C team had a strong season with 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. We had a total of 52 players playing for at least 1 of the 3 teams this season so it was great to see so many Glyn students participating in extra curricular activities and representing the school. The highlight came in the last game of the season with an impressive 8-1 win away to Sutton Grammar.
