SURREY SCHOOLS SWIMMING RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP 2024-25

SURREY SCHOOLS SWIMMING RELAY CHAMPIONSHIP 2024-25

This year’s highly anticipated Surrey Schools Swimming Relay Championship took place at the Guildford Spectrum, one of the premier sporting venues in the region. The event drew schools from across Surrey, with our junior boys' team proudly representing the school in both the freestyle and medley relay races.

The team, comprising Henry M, Zachary B (8C), Cruz (8SB), and Harrison T (8B), took to the pool with determination and focus. Their first event was the freestyle relay, where each swimmer showcased their speed and teamwork. Cruz started strong, setting a quick pace for the team in the first leg. His powerful strokes were followed by Henry, who maintained the team's momentum with an excellent second leg. Zachary then powered through the third leg, displaying both strength and technique, while Harrison anchored the team with a swift and confident final leg, ensuring a strong finish. The boys demonstrated great unity and delivered an outstanding performance against some tough competition.

In the freestyle team relay, our team finished a respectable 13th out of 19 competing schools. Among the five state schools participating, we proudly placed third, showcasing strong competitive spirit and skill. Considering the high level of competition, especially from independent schools, this is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the team's hard work and dedication. Well done to all involved!

In the second race, the medley relay, the team once again excelled. Each swimmer took on a different stroke, demonstrating their versatility and technical skill. Zachary led the race with a steady backstroke, positioning the team well for the remaining legs. Harrison showed his adaptability by taking on the butterfly, one of his secondary strokes, and executed it with precision. Cruz followed with the breaststroke, another stroke outside his primary discipline, yet he swam with impressive control. Finally, Henry swam the freestyle leg, finishing the race on a high note with a fast and powerful sprint to the end.

Throughout the competition, our swimmers displayed exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience. Competing in a large event like this, with a high level of competition, required not only physical strength but also mental focus. The boys rose to the challenge, delivering commendable performances in both relays.

Congratulations to Henry, Zachary, Cruz, and Harrison for their hard work, adaptability, and determination. Their efforts reflect the school's strong swimming tradition and commitment to excellence. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to future successes in the swimming pool!
