The Glyn School Community
This half term has been very busy, especially for our Year 11's and 13's, who we wish all the very best as they work hard to prepare for their Pre-Public Examinations.
As always, there is so much to celebrate at Glyn School. As the days get longer and the evenings start to get lighter, it is a welcome reminder that spring is fast approaching; signalling growth and new beginnings. So this week seemed an excellent time to appoint the new Glyn Ambassadors and for them to receive their ambassador badges.
There was much excitement on Wednesday morning, as, with ambassador badges proudly displayed on their blazers, students from Years 7 to 10 met with their Prefect teams to listen to their action plans and to share ideas about how they could begin to make a positive difference to our school community.
When the Glyn Ambassador programme was announced, students were invited to apply for one of the following areas:
- Charity and Community
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Mental Health and Well-being
- Learning and Teaching
- Environment
It was extremely heartening to receive so many thoughtful applications for the ambassador roles. As can be seen from the examples below, our community at Glyn School can only be strengthened by the contributions of our wonderful students, who clearly understand how working together benefits us all.
“I would like to become a Glyn Ambassador because I am passionate about saving the environment. I think a clean and healthy environment is key to good work and happiness.”
“I would like to apply to be one of Glyn’s Ambassadors supporting the stream of ‘Equality, Diversity and Inclusion’. This is because, being a minority, I know how it is to live in a society in which you never feel fully accepted and I would really like, and hope to help to educate my peers about how vital it is to be open minded. But also I would like to help to support students that may need support, from an inside perspective.”
“The environment is such a picturesque thing containing the most extraordinary creatures, which are instrumental to our existence, and this is why we need to nourish and treasure the environment. I feel like I would make a great ambassador, I go out on litter picks with my scout group and I do a lot of animal photography as well”.
"As my father has been a teacher for close to 16 years now, I feel passionately about the importance of education and learning for our younger generation. I feel that there are, although few and far between, some issues with our methods of teaching and I feel passionately about helping to solve those issues as a Glyn Ambassador. I hope that you will consider me for this position. Thank you.”
We look forward to sharing news of the work our prefects, the ambassadors and the wider school will be doing over the coming months to continue to enhance our community.
