ESSA Swimming Relay Competition
Senior students swimming relay team win gold and silver at the Regional Championships!
On Saturday 24 January, Glyn School’s swimmers had the opportunity to compete in the 'Surrey School Swimming Championship' in Guildford. I want to say thank you and congratulations for all the efforts on Saturday evening. The students involved were George (7T), Ethan (7B), Caipher (8A), Jayden (8T) for the junior students and the senior team was made up of Daniel (13B), Adam (13O1), Victor (13B), and Todd (12B).
During the event, there were some stand-out performances from the Senior Team. The Freestyle Relay team did really well, finishing in second place overall. In the final event of the championships, the Senior students prepared for the Medley Relay. The team was full of confidence from their previous victory and this showed as the students performed extremely well, finishing in first place, winning gold. Daniel was our first swimmer in the water, putting the team in a great position. This was followed by Victor who swam a fantastic second leg, breaststroke. He was powering through the water, putting the team into first place. Next to swim, for the third leg of butterfly, was Todd who swam well and maintained our position. The final leg was swum by Adam who also swam well and maintained our position, thereby winning gold. This gives the team a great chance of qualifying for the National team relays which will include the 30 best schools in the country.
The Junior students swim team worked well as a team gaining great experience from their first school swimming competition. All swimmers swam well in the Medley Relay, with an outstanding performance from George on the third leg, swimming butterfly. Ethan (backstroke) and Jayden (freestyle) worked hard and demonstrated good technique and power in the water. Caipher put in a good effort, working hard for the team. He swam the 2nd leg, breaststroke demonstrating a sound technique. For the Junior team, this was their first competitive schools swimming championship representing Glyn School and the students worked very hard and shown excellent determination and resilience.
Congratulations to all the students for their efforts and achievements throughout the Surrey School Swimming Championships.
