A Historic Moment
This weekend marks an historic moment - The Coronation of His Majesty The King and The Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey. To mark this notable time in history, students have attended an assembly this week delivered by Mr Howard, to learn all about The Coronation and the history of how it has been celebrated in the past.
Furthermore, students entered a Creative Competition and used their imagination and creativity to celebrate King Charles III’s Coronation. Ezekiel in Year 11 has written a thought-provoking poem which captures this significant moment in history. He reflects on the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, and how ‘at seventy-three, an age when most people retire,/ A man takes on a big job, with the nation's desire,/ To succeed his mother, and stay true to his word,/ A new chapter begins as we crown King Charles III.’
We hope that students are able to reflect on this remarkable event over the coming days. It is an exciting opportunity for learning and taking part in history.

His Majesty
Last year, we celebrated the Jubilee with glee,
With pageantry, street parties, and "God Save The Queen”,
We joked she was immortal, but then the day came
in September, when Her Majesty left us with only her name.
An example of steadfastness and dedication,
Queen Elizabeth II earned the world's admiration,
She bid farewell to Boris and welcomed Liz Truss.
Then two days later… we said goodbye with a mournful hush.
At seventy-three, an age when most people retire,
A man takes on a big job, with the nation's desire,
To succeed his mother, and stay true to his word,
A new chapter begins as we crown King Charles III.
Like the Jubilee, we celebrate the Defender of the Faith,
You might not like them, but you get a Bank Holiday on the Eighth.
Our diverse and proud national community,
Supporting the King and Queen, with unwavering unity.
Though true love took its course, Diana's memory endures,
We celebrate with joy, as the Royal Family ensures,
That Camilla, a respected member of the monarchy,
Is a true partner to the King, with loyalty and dignity.
Once again, pageantry and street parties, it's all the same,
Except for one crucial difference: the chant that we’ll claim,
We'll never forget Elizabeth and the joy she would bring.
You might not like him, but nonetheless:
"God Save The King!"
