Royal Yachting Association Success
Samson (10A) has had an amazing year sailing his ILCA4 dinghy.
Following training throughout the winter Samson, qualified to represent Great Britain to compete in Vilamoura, Portugal in August 2022. Competing against 272 male sailors from around the world, there were 426 sailors in total from 42 countries at the event. It was an incredible experience with Samson coming mid fleet in both the CP World Competition and the GB sailors. A great achievement for his first international event.
Samson was selected for the RYA ILCA4 Regional Training Group again this year and has been allowed to train at sea based venues rather than those more local. Most international competitions are on the sea so he is focusing his training with that in mind and has been encouraged to attend as many international competitions as possible.
Samson trains most weekends and holidays across the country, leaving Friday night arriving home Sunday night.
This year his focus is transiting into the ILCA6 dinghy (same hull with a bigger sail).
Thank you to Mr Ede who helped Samson make a stand for his compass. Sailing with a compass is the next skill to learn.
Well done Samson - we look forward to hearing of your future successes.
