GLF Schools’ Foundation Fundraising Event - Jak Martin - Foundation Lead
Opportunity Fund - an initiative to support students within GLF Schools to have access to opportunities and experiences which everyone deserves to have.
Now that the GLF Schools’ Foundation has opened its first round of official applications to the Opportunity Fund, it is a great time to share with you our first fundraising event to try to generate as much money to support as many deserving students as possible. It is simple to set up on our donations platform if you would be interested in taking part in a fundraising activity yourself, no matter how big or small.
I had some health issues a while back which stopped me from playing all sport; something that had been my passion from an early age and, indeed, threatened me never walking again. Due to having the first real set back in my life, I became concerned by the number of barriers that are apparent for people to be active, and, in turn, to enjoy themselves. I am now lucky enough to lead on the GLF Schools’ Foundation, focusing on reducing the financial barriers to young people taking part in opportunities and experiences. So, with this in mind, the first official fundraising event will be a golf marathon where I, alongside Harry Pyett (PGA Professional) and Adam Boyd-Brown (Golf Strength Coach), will complete over 50,000 steps - having been told a few years ago that I would probably never walk even one step again - and be walking for approximately 14 hours to raise money for families who need it.
Please show your support and spread the word so we can support those students within GLF Schools to have the access to opportunities and experiences which everyone deserves to have.
Thank you, in advance. Jak Martin, Foundation Lead
