Better Late Than Never!
Mrs Woolridge received a carefully wrapped parcel this week, addressed to the Library. Within the parcel was a very overdue book (due back by 2 May 2002), together with a humorous note from the embarrassed former student. In mock fear of racking up what he estimates to be 995 hours of detentions, the writer remains anonymous. We are, though, all left wondering if he ever managed to bluff his way into the Rock Business!
It just goes to show that it's never too late to return your books to the Library!
The Note:
“Dear Librarian,
I found this while sorting my bookshelves recently and thought it wise to return it. As you can see, it is somewhat past its due date. If the penalty for being a week late to return a book is 1 hour detention (not unreasonable, I think) and my maths is correct (and to the school’s credit, it usually is) I owe 995 hours detention. That is over 41 days continuously! So I hope you understand why I am returning it anonymously. Best wishes. Anon.
