Another Successful Duke of Edinburgh Award Trip
Another successful Duke of Edinburgh trip was completed over the Bank Holiday weekend, this time for the Gold Award. A team of seven Sixth Form students navigated their way around the Surrey Hills over three days, walking up to 20km a day. Unfortunately, due to current Covid-19 restrictions, camping or overnight stays were not permitted, but students still cooked breakfast outside each morning. The students managed to work exceptionally well as a team, even when an ambulance had to be called for a very unlucky fall. The students reacted very calmly and maturely to the incident, which resulted in the situation being dealt with effectively.
Thank you to Ms Wilson Davies, Mr Rylance, Mrs Bryan and Ms Jones for transporting the students to and from the various checkpoints, and to Nicky Hedgecock, Operations Manager of Learn Outdoors, for her assistance. Even the weather turned out well, as the sun shone and we managed to miss any rain while walking.
We wish students well as they undertake their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
