Jasmine - Head Student Welcome
It is such an honour to be able to call myself a Head Student of Glyn School. Despite my time here being shorter in comparison to others, I have already felt an overwhelming sense of unity from the wider school body and I am beyond grateful for the significant impact Glyn has had on me in both my academic and social development.
I came to Glyn with a few friends from my previous school and was excited to make new friends in a new environment. From my very first lesson, I was immersed into such a positive and enriching experience which provided the ideal environment to get to know my classmates so that we would be able to support each other through the challenges that sixth form would send our way. My teachers contribute significantly to fostering conditions in which we are all comfortable enough to share ideas and make mistakes to learn from. After the first week I was surrounded by people who I felt like I had known for years when in reality it had only been a short amount of time. Glyn really strives to create a cohesive environment where all students feel comfortable and welcomed.
Throughout my time at Glyn, the ethos of this school has been undeniably clear: at Glyn they push for the academic performance of students through running additional support classes whilst enabling individualism and students' voices being heard through student councils, feedback forums, prefects and head students. As head student, alongside the prefects, I aim to encourage each student to reach their full potential by offering more incentives to attend support classes and higher levels of recognition for students who are going the extra mile both in and outside of the classroom. I, alongside the prefect team, strive to create a community at Glyn where all students’ voices are heard with the aim to drive change where things can be improved. Our focus is not exclusively academic: we also want to open up more opportunities through sports and creative arts. This is incredibly important to me as I think extracurricular activities such as sports and drama productions create a sense of community and incorporate key values such as respect and endeavour which encapsulate what Glyn is all about.
As Head Student my aim is to continue to strengthen the student voice to ensure each and every student is heard and also inspire each student to become the best version of themselves. Furthermore, I wish to work closely with the senior leadership team so that I can put into practice these ideals in order for each student to be able to experience the same sense of unity and motivation I experienced on my first day.
Thank you for taking the time to read my welcome message and I look forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of Glyn School.
Abishann - Head Student Welcome
I am honoured to introduce myself as the Head Boy of Glyn School. Being a part of this community has influenced me in ways I never expected, and it is a true privilege to represent a school that has contributed so much to my life and the lives of many others.
When I joined Glyn on January 24th in Year 7, I walked in knowing no one. Everyone was new to me, yet from the very first day, I felt welcomed as if I had always belonged. The warmth and support of both students and staff made it clear that Glyn is more than just a school—it is a family. It is a place where no one is left behind, where we lift each other up, and where lasting friendships are formed. Now, as Head Boy, I want to give back to the school that gave me so much, ensuring that every student feels the same sense of belonging that I did.
Glyn stands out because it genuinely values student input. We’re not just following a curriculum; we’re encouraged to think, express, and lead. Every student has the opportunity to make an impact, whether through student leadership meetings or feedback sessions. At Glyn, our voices are important, and our ideas play a key role in shaping the future of the school.
Glyn truly shines not just in academics and leadership, but also in its dedication to nurturing creativity and self-expression. Through various avenues like drama productions, participation in Glyn Live, the Creative Arts Evening, and student-led initiatives, every student has the opportunity to display their unique talents and interests. In a time when the arts can be side-lined, Glyn remains a strong advocate for creativity, making sure that students can fully explore and express their authentic selves.
As Head Boy, I want to make sure that all students feel seen, recognised, and appreciated, regardless of their backgrounds, passions, or aspirations. I intend to preserve the customs and principles that make Glyn the place we all call home, working together with the Head Girl and an amazing group of Prefects. Because Glyn is more than just a name; it's a family, where we support, care for, and grow together.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I look forward to working with students and staff to make this year one of continued success and opportunity.
