Achieving Potential
We are steadfast in our determination to ensure that the impact of the pandemic to students’ learning is mitigated as much as possible. As part of our wider catch plan , a selection of students in Years 7 and 8 began their free online tutoring this week, thanks to the National Tutoring Programme and Fleet Tutors. These are courses of 15 sessions in either English, Maths or Science, and the feedback thus far has been exceedingly positive. A large number of students in Year 10 have also been receiving tuition since December. Additionally, our in-house Academic Mentor has been providing small group and one-to-one support across all year groups.
We hope that these one-to one-interventions with the National Tutoring Programme will support our continued efforts and other strategies to plug any ‘gaps’ in knowledge and understanding caused by the pandemic, enabling all of our students to realise our mission statement: Glyn School’s mission is to inspire a love of learning and achievement that is founded on the virtues of integrity, respect and a desire to succeed. Every person is highly valued and expected to achieve their potential, through academic challenge, sporting endeavour and technological innovation’.
